The minimum value that an instrument can read is called as Least Count.

 

 

Least Count of Prismatic Compass:-

 

The L.C. of Prismatic Compass is 30ꞌ.  It means compass can read only those observations which are multiples of 30 minutes.

 

Least Count of Surveyor Compass:-

The L.C. of Surveyor Compass is 15ꞌ.
